« Même s’il n’est pas nécessairement nouveau que les pratiques d’intervention fassent appel à l’art, on constate depuis peu un intérêt grandissant pour celui-ci dans plusieurs milieux et groupes militants. Le dossier que nous vous présentons tente de faire la lumière sur l’actualité du phénomène. Réalisé sous la direction de Sylvie Frigon et de Claire Jenny, respectivement professeure au Département de criminologie de l’Université d’Ottawa et chorégraphe à la compagnie de danse Point Virgule de Paris, ce dossier intitulé Aux lisières de l’art, de l’intervention et de la justice sociale réunit douze articles (dix articles scientifiques et deux échos de pratique) qui proposent chacun à sa manière une réflexion sur le potentiel transformateur de l’art lorsqu’il est mobilisé dans le cadre d’une démarche d’intervention ou militante. En plus de donner un aperçu de la diversité des publics avec lesquels l’intervention par l’art est pratiquée (personnes en situation de pauvreté, de handicap, personnes incarcérées ou enfermées, jeunes en difficulté, personnes âgées) et des formes d’art sur lesquelles les intervenants.es peuvent s’appuyer (cirque, danse, théâtre, arts visuels), les textes proposent des pistes de réflexion sur les possibles points de rencontre entre l’art et le social. Comme le soulignent Sylvie Frigon et Claire Jenny dans leur présentation du dossier, les articles s’interrogent sur la manière dont l’art peut contribuer au mieux-être individuel et collectif ainsi qu’à la façon dont il peut conjuguer une approche thérapeutique avec des pratiques visant la transformation des institutions et une plus grande justice sociale. »
